How to make Rooh Afza, India’s most refreshing drink at home? Here’s the recipe
As soon as summer arrives, the mind draws toward chilled things. In such cases, chilly, cold Rooh Afza soothes both the body and the mind. Rooh Afza is cold and fresh like rose syrup, thus people prefer drinking it in the afternoon at home. Rooh Afza is a mixture of many health-promoting spices and herbs, along with rose. Although pure Rooh Afza may be made at home and stored, bottles of the item are easily available in the market.
Here’s how to make refreshing Rooh Afza at home
For making Rooh Afza at home, you’ll need clean, fresh rose flowers. Remove the rose petals from these flowers, give them a quick wash in cold water and set them aside. Now fill a pan with water, add the cleaned rose petals and let it boil. Allow this water to boil for a while, or until the rose petals cause the water’s color to become pink.
Once the water turns pink, turn down the gas flame and use a strainer to remove the rose petals from the water. You’ll see that some rose flower grains are still in the water; use a fine filter to remove them.
Once the water has been well cleaned, add two cups of sugar, stir and let it boil on SIM gas. Allow it to boil until it gets thick. Now, add one tablespoon of rose essence (available in the market) to this water and allow it to boil for a few minutes. Finally, add a little kewda water and mix. Once it becomes thick like Rooh Afza, switch off the gas and let it cool. Once it has cooled, put it in a glass container and store it in the fridge. Your pure, tasty Rooh Afza is ready.
