They look like small grains of rice or grain chopped into pieces. Steel-cut oats are less processed and hence contain more nutrients than any other oats variant.

1. Make sure to use steel slices for this dish. Steel cut oats are easy to find both online and in stores. Begin by heating ghee in a pan. Add the steel cut oats and gently roast for some minutes. Crush the green cardamom and mix it with the oats while they are roasting.

2. Steel cut oats take longer to cook than rolled oats, which is why we need to pressure cook them. Add the toasted oats to a pressure cooker, along with 2 cups of water. Cook on medium heat for 20 minutes.

3. Now that the cooker’s lid is open, set it to medium heat. Add 2 cups milk, stir well and let it come to a boil. Now, add powdered jaggery according to preference and stir well. Cook for another 1-2 minutes before turning off the burner.

4. Put the porridge into a bowl, top with sliced bananas and serve.
